About
I am a UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist. My combined experience as a psychotherapist for 5 years and previously as assistant psychologist for 7 years I have excellent communication skills and a high degree of understanding the human condition. I have found my previous skills as a company director to be particularly valuable in my work as a psychotherapist as they enable me to understand another person’s experience more fully, which is a vital part of psychotherapy.
As a Psychotherapist in the NHS working alongside multi-disciplinary teams, I work in long-term and short-term weekly therapy with adults suffering from a variety of problems. I have helped many people achieve significant change in their lives, change they deeply desired to function in relationships, work and everyday life. My work as an assistant psychologist in Cyprus for 6 years working for a government project assisting children and families with substance abuse has given me the expertise to understand the dynamics families find themselves into and help them overcome their addictions negatively impacting on their family.
I work interpersonally, involving my clients in dialogue and collaboration. The psychological formulations I devise to help me recommend the appropriate intervention are based on experience in the NHS in both assessing clients and working with them collaboratively.

Clinical Training and Qualifications in Counselling/Psychotherapy
I have studied and trained to Masters degree in Psychotherapy, then Post-Masters Diploma. My experience in the NHS as a therapist, and in primary care working alongside psychiatrists, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors has sensitised me to a variety of ways of working and conceptualising problems that are helpful to clients. Some people find it difficult to get in touch with their feelings, may bottle up and distress can be expressed through becoming physically ill. Therapy can help.
Additional Information
As a therapist my experience consists of work with various types of problems. I have helped many people who thought their problems would be with them the rest of their lives. If clients commit themselves to confronting their problems it is not beyond reach to achieve positive change.
My approach is integrative, relational. This consists of making use of psychodynamic, existential, CBT and humanistic approaches to psychotherapy. My approach is based on a fundamental respect for the individual and his or her potential as a human being. I use CBT tools and techniques when clinically appropriate. At times I use a technique called Focusing, as a way of accessing blocked emotions, thoughts, and feelings, which can then be discussed during therapy.
As well as face-to-face sessions I provide Skype Therapy and/or telephone sessions tailored to accommodate the needs of busy professionals or people from different time zones.
